ICT refers to the discrete curricula subject and the skills required to use technology to lead a richer and fuller life - at home, in school and at work. All teachers must have a grasp of the fundamentals of ICT and specialist teachers need a deeper  understanding. Ofsted  found significant weaknesses on the teaching of ICT (as a subject) and the effective use of ICT (to support all learning) in schools. Outstream has worked with  the TDA, Vital, Naace and e-Skills to define crucial core skills and national CPD research for Becta  & with MirandaNet/WLE Centre at the IoE London.

 

Effective CPD focuses on the context of the teacher and needs to have clear support from school leaders, based on a sound vision for ICT in learning and teaching. Teachers need to be at the centre of their own learning if they are to develop the use of technology.  CPD activities need to focus on planning for student learning, within a clear set of understandings about how learning happens.  CPD is a significant indicator of e-maturity

 

Outstream provides consultants and courses to the Vital professional development programme and we are a registered provider on the TDA's CPD database.  Outstream's courses are mapped to the TDA Professional and occupational standards.
