Computing refers to the discrete curricula subject and the skills required to use technology to lead a richer and fuller life - at home, in school and at work. All teachers must have a grasp of the fundamentals of computational thinking and Technology, while specialist teachers need a deeper understanding. Outstream has worked with national and government agencies and organisations to define crucial core skills and CPD requirements.
Effective CPD focuses on the context of the teacher and needs to have clear support from school leaders, based on a sound vision for technology in learning and teaching. Teachers need to be at the centre of their own learning if they are to fully develop the use of technology. CPD activities need to focus on planning for student learning, within a clear set of understandings about how learning happens. CPD is a significant indicator of e-maturity
